Ever wondered how much impact you – just one person – could have in the fight against climate change?

This hands-on, skills-based workshop will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to turn personal action into wider societal change. Explore through engaging talks and collaborative exercises how behaviour change can spark system-wide transformation.

This session will be led by Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh and Bella Zanin, experts in environmental psychology from the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations. Join us if you’re passionate about sustainability, social change or simply curious about what drives human behaviour.

You’ll leave with fresh insights, practical tools and motivation to create meaningful impact in your local community and beyond.

Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh MBE

Lorraine is an environmental psychologist based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath. She specialises in perceptions and behaviour in relation to climate change. She’s the director of the ESRC-funded UK Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations and co-director of the Bath Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change. Lorraine regularly advises governmental and other organisations on low-carbon behaviour change and climate change communication. She was one of the expert leads for Climate Assembly UK and Lead Author for IPCC’s Working Group II Sixth Assessment Report.

Bella Zanin

Bella is an environmental communicator who’s happiest in the mountains or the ocean. She has fought for the protection of coral reefs in the Red Sea and helped implement chemicals and waste policy at the United Nations. She’s also campaigned to raise awareness of eco-anxiety at global climate summits. Bella now works at the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations where she liaises between researchers and key decision makers to translate scientific evidence into real-world impact.
