Join us for an inspiring discussion with environmental justice researcher and educator Joycelyn Longdon as we explore her new book Natural Connection.

We’ll discuss key themes, including Indigenous wisdom, modern technology and how experiencing awe in nature can inspire collective climate action. Joycelyn will share insights from communities across the USA, UK, Brazil, India, Nigeria and Iran, highlighting how ordinary people have driven today’s rapid technological changes. We’ll explore her motivations for writing Natural Connection and the impact she hopes to create through her work. Most importantly, we’ll discuss how anyone can take action for a healthier planet and reconnect with nature. Hosting Joycelyn and leading the conversation will be renowned climate and disability justice activist, Daphne Frias.

Daphne Frias

Daphne, a 26-year-old Latina and disability rights advocate with cerebral palsy, is transforming activism through a public health lens. As New York State Director for March For Our Lives she helped pass more than 15 state laws against gun violence. In 2020, she founded Box the Ballot, collecting more than 20,000 absentee ballots during the midterms. Bridging public health and climate justice, Daphne has dismantled barriers between disability and environmental advocacy. She was a spokesperson for the 2019 global climate strikes and a panellist at the New York Times Climate Hub with Emma Watson. Recognised on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 North America List for Social Impact for 2025, she inspires global change through her work.

Joycelyn Longdon

Joycelyn is an award-winning environmental justice technologist, writer and communicator. Through her unique approach to environmental and science communication, she’s spoken to platforms such as Meta, the United Nations Geneva Dialogues, Greenpeace and Channel 4. Joycelyn is a TEDx alumni and the winner of the Emerging Designer London Design Medal in 2022. She was featured in British Vogue’s December 2023 Forces for Change issue. She was also listed as one of Pique Action and Harvard Chan C-CHANGE’s 2024 Climate Creators to Watch. Additionally, Country and Town House named her one of its Future Icons Power People 2024.

  • Arrive at our Exhibition Road entrance 15 minutes before the start of the event.
  • Our bar will be serving refreshments from 18.30.
  • The event will be an hour long. After the event there will 30 minutes for you to chat to the speakers and each other.
